What is Deflazacort Deflazacort is an anti-inflammatory agent used to treat a number of diseases with excessive inflammation in the body. They include inflammatory diseases such as asthma (lung inflammation), rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis, rheumatic carditis, polymyalgia rheumatica, and inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Deflazacort is also an immunosuppressant that can lower the white blood cells. Thus Deflazacort is used to suppress the immune system in organ transplant operations, which can help prevent the rejection of transplanted organs.
