Nimodipine

Nimodipine is used to treat and prevent neurological problems (brain damage) caused by subarachnoid hemorrhage. Subarachnoid hemorrhage refers to bleeding in the space around the brain that occurs due to a ruptured brain blood vessel, which results in reduced blood flow to the brain. Nimodipine relaxes blood vessels in the brain near the area of bleeding and improves blood flow, thereby reducing brain damage. Nimodipine belongs to a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. Nimodipine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
