Lubiprostone

Lubiprostone is an oral medication indicated for the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) in adults. CIC means infrequency or difficulty in passing stool, which has an unknown cause and is not due to an underlying disease, medication, or diet. Lubiprostone is also used in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation in women. It works by increasing the secretion of fluid within your intestines, which helps in the easy passage of stools. This medicine belongs to a class of drugs known as chloride channel activators. This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
