Penicillamine

Penicillamine is used to treat severe and active rheumatoid arthritis, Wilson's disease (excess copper levels in the body) and cystinuria (excess concentration of the amino acid, cystine, in the urine). Penicillamine belongs to a group of medicines called disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). Penicillamine is also classified as a chelating (metal-binding) agent. Penicillamine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
