Levonorgestrel

Levonorgestrel is an emergency contraceptive pill that helps prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or a suspected contraceptive failure (e.g. broken condom). It is a progestin hormone that works by preventing ovulation and by causing changes in the mucus of the cervix, which makes it harder for sperm to reach the egg. It also prevents the attachment of the fertilized egg to the walls of the uterus. This medicine may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
