Imipramine is used to treat depression. Imipramine helps improve mood and relieves other symptoms of depression by increasing the amount of certain natural substances (such as norepinephrine and serotonin) in the brain. It belongs to a group of drugs called tricyclic antidepressants. Imipramine is also used along with other therapies for the treatment of nocturnal enuresis (night-time bedwetting) in children aged 6 years and older.
